Yu Hongqing - Bagua
...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_n9nXkHBn4 I train this Bagua form. I did a pretty exhaustive search of all the Bagua I could get my hands on. I have tons of dvd's and vcd's full of Bagua forms. Most are different, connected by moves like "black dragon tucks it's tail" and containing 8 palm changes. In truth there are about 120 palm changes as the forms are so different from one another. The above form is in my opinion the most beautiful and fluid of the bagua forms. It is also the most cardiovascular and intricate so if a person is to train bagua I would also advise start with practice of one of the slower forms before attempting to learn this form. Yu Hongqing has a vcd out with instruction and breakdown of this form. The clip above is actually taken from that vcd.

Hello North, I must say that she moves with great smoothness and power. I don’t believe I’d care to be on the receiving end of one of her techniques. Regards, MrE2Me2

I searched very long and purchased alot of material before descovering this gem. I had to google her name to find the youtube clip. I do also train Dragon Bagua, and it was my first exposure to that style, this form I began to train more recently.

I don't think that a person who learns only Bagua would be very effective at using it in combative situations. You need to be able to bounce to another style with firmer stances when dealing with some of the styles out there like MMA etc. Bagua makes use of very high stances or very low stances, but pulled back. (Low back stance like) I guess it truly depends on the teacher and what drills he uses to condition his students though. I have found the circle walking to be the best part. Most of the applications I have seen instructed both in person and from dvd are questionable in their effectiveness. Conditioning yourself to walk in arcs has had profound impact on the multiple opponant sparring we train.
