The Songbird I just had the misfortune of seeing June's commercial for a CD she just put out. It looks like it's straight out of the 80's.
It's www.junesimon.com if anyone cares. You gotta check out the biography.
I also now consider the 'Winston Tan' mystery solved as he was apparently her mentor (TKF played his music relentlessly).

Hello Lowly Blue Belt,
Welcome to the forum.
You posted, “It looks like it's straight out of the 80's.”
I can’t speak to that other than to say;
The 80’s weren’t so bad (if one were old enough to enjoy them). :-D
But I did notice a couple of things about this website.
It refers to”Golden Bell Artists”, one of whom is “Emile Simon”.
He looks an awful lot like Olaf Simon.
And didn’t “Golden Bell” used to be the publisher of or for Olaf Simon?
I also noticed that no reference was made to martial arts at all.
As a matter of fact, “Emile’s” history is very similar to Olaf’s.
But there is no mention of kung fu.
Although we are told about him that, “…never again did he play the violin.”
Regards, MrE2Me2

I just meant it looked like one of those old K-Tel ads with June's caterwauling over top of it.
I know I'm new to the forum but I find all of this fascinating-especially that Grandmaster Simon is now a musician named Emile! I'm also interested in the fact that Golden Bell's contact info is in Grand Forks. If you listened to his samples I'm sure you'll be as thankful as I am that he wasn't singing on it. I did read in the credits that the Dalai Seng Shi raps on one of the tracks though  (just kidding!)
It just seems so weird that again GMS has reinvented himself and that June has all this history with Italian opera singers etc etc.
I know that this forum is meant to be more about martial arts, so I apologise for throwing this in but I though it may be of interest to some.

What I found most annoying about those K-Tell ads was the announcer's voice hammering you over and over.
I'm curious where you saw the June Simon T.V. ad I have never seen any myself. If they resorted to K-Tel style T.V. commercials that would be sad indeed.

First off, welcome to the forum lowly blue belt!!
FYI (you may already know this):
Emile is Olaf's middle name - O. E. Simon.
I was told many times over the years that D. June Simon was a classically trained opera singer, so the history is probably part if not all true?!
And of course Golden Bell is their company, which explains why it is based in Grand Forks, which is near where they live.
Great post by the way, keep it up.
PS - Once MrE2Me2 has achieved the last "Avatar" I will remove the pre-programmed ones so people can add their own (like you have).
Cheers
