Six Degrees of Separation
To all, I came across this idea tonight. It’s called, “Six Degrees of Separation” or “The Small World Phenomena”. The basic idea is this, “While the exact number of links between people differs depending on the population measured, it is generally found to be relatively small.” It’s from here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_degrees_of_separation Would that mean that the following? 1 Chogun Myagi knew James Mitose 2 James Mitose knew William Chow 3 William Chow knew Ed Parker 4 Ed Parker Knew Olaf Simon 5 Olaf Simon knew Lloyd Robertson (the newscaster) 6 Lloyd knew Barbara Frum Between Chogun Myagi and Barbara Frum there are: “Six Degrees of Separation”. I have heard that you can connect yourself to almost anyone in the world using this technique. 1)I knew several people who knew Olaf Simon (Don't know if I count directly as I never really spent too much time with him but I did speak with him. 2)Olaf Simon knew Bruce Lee, or Chuck Norris 3)Chuck Norris knows Anthony Hopkins 4) Anthony Hopkins knows the Queen of England 5) The Queen of England knows the Pope. (Former) 6) The Pope knew Fidel Castro :) hehe there's an amusing one for you. I also know Jamie Salé and David Pelletier (Gold medalists in figure skating). I am sure they have met alot of people by now. It seems if you have a link to a celebrity of any sort (Olaf Simon?) then you will be able to link to others quite easily. Interesting concept though.
