New Owners In a recent conversation with new Temple Kung Fu ownership (yes I am on speaking terms with them), they wanted to make it clear that things have changed significantly in how the present studios are run.
Specifically how the programs, system and business is structured. They do not want to be associated with the problems & complaints of previous ownerships business practices, (though in my opinion, until near the end of the last ownership group, most directives on how to run the studios still came from "head office").
From what I was told they do seem to be doing things different. Showing all costs associated with training up front, having standard monthly fees, breaking the belt programs down (no hard push into KFC/ brown belt program), no hard selling of merchandise, no talk of GMS/ TKF being a true Shaolin Master/ System etc, (What about that 23rd successor stuff?).
Not having stepped into a TKF studio in almost 2 years, I myself cannot really comment on this, but I wanted to share their point of view.
PS. They like the new forum

I too am happy someone has taken it upon himself to allow "reasonable folks" to talk about an event in their lives that for some has left a stain, and others, many very happy memories.
Cudos Grasshopper. You got er goin good. I hope this site will eventually shadow all the others.

used to supervise- 07-05-2006
Gentlemen/Ladies... at the end of the day it all comes down to one thing. We as humans act on and make decisions based on the knowledge and insight that we are given. The "new crew" that have taken over the reigns at TKF are doing just that...making decisions based on what they are being told/shown etc. What is important is how they process and impliment this knowledge and insight. I know these men well and generally hold them in fairly high regard for two reasons.Firstly, I had trained with several of them for close to 15 years and got to see them as people both in and out of the studio to some degree and are familiar with their character. Secondly, in my opinion, they truly feel in their heart that what they are doing is right. That in itself should be applauded. Whether it is right remains to be seen.
Should things at "head office" not really change and these men not truly be able to execute and do what is best for the art and the students, in a short time it will all be evident.
I wish no one disfortune on either side of this "saga". Infact just the opposite...I wish all much luck and success...those with truly good intentions that do it right will succeed, period. My wish is that we all train for a common good and continue to improve on ourselves each day.
Time will tell...

Good post "used to supervise", I agree.
When did you leave TKF? Do I know you?
PM me if you like.

Yeah, very good post, "used to supervise".
The current owners do truly believe in what they're doing, and are doing their best to set things right. They are straight-shooters, and will tell you no lies. Nor will they listen to any BS. Whatever they say (whether you think it's true or false) is what they believe. They have each personally invested many thousands of dollars and thousands of hours of work in setting these studios up. They did not do this for money, since they all either ran successful businesses or had well-paid productive careers which they had to put on hold. They are doing this because they truly love the art and know the potential of the system.

Do all ex-students get a cut rate since they tkf didn't give us full value for our money the first time?

Not sure about this myself. As far as I know and I may be wrong, if people brought in reciepts to show what programs they had paid for they were given credit or at least partial credit. I would suppose it would depend on individual curcumstances would be hard to make a blanket rule.
They realy did try to address the students that had been left out in the cold after the Webber run studios closed. I know when they tried to reopen in Vancouver they were not accepting money from the students until they knew they were on their feet.

I know when they tried to reopen in Vancouver they were not accepting money from the students until they knew they were on their feet.
Does this mean the Vancouver locations are no longer open?
