hey i have a couple more on the island for you Kung fu Canada founded by Ed O'brian (first started in montreal then moved to victoria and opened second branch) Kung fu Academy founded by student of Ed O'brian Plus I think he may have other students that have opened up schools here but not sure of names. Also I was surprised the other day at a tournament here in victoria recently (the world martial arts games) to see someone competing using kempo I II & III. He did not do so well (he needed some work on his form) but it was neat to see. I believe he was from somewhere in Sask.

Hey swollenknuckle Also I was surprised the other day at a tournament here in victoria recently (the world martial arts games) to see someone competing using kempo I II & III. There are actually a number of competitors that use the kempo forms for tournamnets here in Alberta. There is actually even a version of kempo I that has kicks in it. I beleive this particular was modified By Master Higgs to make it more flashier for tournament use. The kempo forms have been assimilated by a lot of different Alberta Martial arts clubs. Sifu Shawn

I was under the impression when I trained that the Kung Fu I learned from Brian Leishman came directly from Shaolin Kung Fu, not a mixture of a Japanese Chinese hybrid. Since I had left that School, in the eighties I had learned Hung Gar, White Crane, Shaolin Black Tiger style and other styles of more authenic Kung Fu. It seems that Hung Gar can trace its lineage back to a Shaolin Monk and the history seems well documented. Not that the martial arts at Energy lake were not good, they were, but I want to learn traditional Kung Fu, not a Kempo hybrid. I remember that Brian Leishamn would tell me that the kung Fu that I learned was like the movie Kung Fu with David Caridine. But in the movie, there was no Kenpo involed, it was suppose to be authentic Chinese Kung Fu. Anyway, I was a bit troubled when I found out the karate influence and I remeber we use to wear karate uniforms, until we got in the Kung Fu club. Bruce

That is one really interesting list! I notice that is full of the former shining stars of SKS / TKF. I second that! And I'd sure like to know how you found the link for mr. Leishman's website.

Someone posted it on a different thread on this forum.. I think they were an ex-student/teacher? under B. Leishman...

MrE2Me2- 10-04-2006

To all, I found this guy early this morning. Dr. John M. La Tourrette, “The Speed Man” “Clocked at an average of more than 16 hits per second by Black Belt Magazine” http://www.thespeedman.com/ So… so what, you ask??? Take a look here, at his credentials. http://www.thespeedman.com/text/credentials.htm "1973-74 Wai Nai Pai (Mo Kempo) Kung-Fu at Boise State University" Has anyone else ever heard of this? Regards, MrE2Me2

MrE2Me2- 10-04-2006

To all, From here I get that Wai and Nai mean external and internal. http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/1321/kungfu.html And Pai means style, does it not? Therefore, would a rough interpretation of “Wai Nai Pai “be, a hard soft style? This is the first I have heard of this guy in relation to Mo Kempo. Regards, MrE2Me2

MrE2Me2, Therefore, would a rough interpretation of “Wai Nai Pai “be, a hard soft style? There was a guy on one of the old TKF forums , I believe his name was ursa major, anyways I remember him sending me an email one time and he said when he had been training the moo method it was reffered to as Moo Pai. Reading this thread unlocked that memory cell I guess. sifu shawn
