Favorite Vid Clips
I believe that many Martial Arts are interrelated. To that end I am offering this thread. It's a place to post your favorite clips of Martial Arts. Primarily, arts other than Kempo / Kenpo. Regards, MrE2Me2

Dan Inosanto
Dan Inosanto Here are a couple of clips of Dan Inosanto. Mr. Inosanto has had a rather spectacular career. Among other things, he has achieved a Black Belt status in Kenpo. However, In this one he is performing Wing Chun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUK3DOQ9g9Q&mode=related&search= And in this one, he is performing FMA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RABfE2GkWUg&NR

Weapons
Here is a comparison of videos for your perusal. The first come from a link from Grasshopper’s site. It is called, “The Modern Shillelagh Project” The link is here. http://www.members.shaw.ca/themsp/newhome.html The clip is here http://www.members.shaw.ca/magpiemonastery/montage.html Read the list of rules at this link. http://www.members.shaw.ca/themsp/newrules.html The second is on FMA. *Be advised there is a graphic demonstration of the power of a Knife swing. No Blood but graphic all the same. Then there is some interesting free sparring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1imwtA9Kmcg&mode=related&search= Compare the targets attacked in both videos. Compare the speed of the weapons involved. Notice that there is no major wind up involved in order to cause serious damage. Notice the padding and the expertise involved. Do Not Try This At home! Without prejudice E&OE

Scary stuff! Theose clips are a vivid reminder as why knifes are so very dangerous. The second clip reminded me of a escrima clip except in the escrima clip they used a short stick and a kris knife. Not a situation I would ever want to be in, luckily not many people have the skill to really use a knife. Good clips Mystery!

Hello Cam, Thanks! Yes, I found the second one quite interesting, myself. Regards, MrE2Me2

On the other hand, check out the knife defenses. Be sure to have your sound on. http://www.ironcrane.com./html/demos.html

I hate those standard knife defences, they all seem so impractical especially against someone who is trained in the Filipino arts. On the plus side, recently I saw a small documentary about a new device that a Police Department somewhere in the U.S. uses. It is a short stick, which is electrified, if you get touched with it you will receive a small shock which lets you know, you HAVE BEEN CUT! It was a real eye-opener for the Officers who thought they hade good knife defence skills, they all got cut!

MrE2Me2- 08-18-2006

Yep! I thought my standard knife defences were good once. Then we did unrehearsed attacks one night. On another note, The clips did have ducky elevator music don't you think? Regards, MrE2Me2

cam- 08-18-2006

Everyones still asleep here, so I had the sound off. I'll check out the music later, though it seems that elevator music would belittle the seriousness of the subject matter! Then again keeping a calm mind under such a stressful situation would be a plus :D

MrE2Me2- 08-18-2006

Hello Cam, I used earphones. But you are right. It does belittle the seriousness of the material covered. It might have been better with no music at all. I did not regard this as a solid vid at all. Way too silly. If the guy had actually landed his atttack, I wonder whether it would have done serious harm or not? Regards, MrE2Me2

Hi Mystery, keep those clips coming! If I can find something suitable I'll post them. Unfortunatley most taiji clips are rather dry, though there was one clip where a taiji Master used a shoulder strike on his son, it was like he was hit by a truck, he went flying off about 10 feet and landed in a heep and didn't move for a few seconds. You see it and think "That's gotta hurt"

Some painful push hands http://youtube.com/watch?v=znVWJ4PmURw Enjoy!

MrE2Me2- 08-18-2006

Hello cam, Wow! Definitely worth the wait. Very Impressive Fellow! Regards, MrE2Me2

MrE2Me2- 08-19-2006

Hello Cam, I noticed that he puts his heel down first several times. I also noticed that it did not seem to affect his balance at all. He whipped that guy around like he was nothing. Regards, MrE2Me2
