An Extremely Annoying Pop-Up!
hi there gang ~ Just wondering here if anyone is having the same experience as me with the lower right-hand pop-up menu? Is anyone else getting the pop-up menu when you try to scroll back-up to the top of the webpage? It's beginning to get under my skin, and if there's anyway you can disable it, grasshopper, please do so! It would be a very wise decision! Trust me on that one. Unwanted pop-ups of any kind are a distraction and undesired nuisance, and highly liable to discouraging Forum activity! Many kind regards to all! Yen Hui

No Pop-ups for me... Maybe try a registry cleaner on your system like Ad-aware or something?

This pop-up which I'm referring to is called "social bookmarks", if anyone has seen it before; and the last I checked, my Pop-Up Blocker is enabled, and I do regular registry cleans, as well. In fact, I'll do one again right now, but I don't think it'll get rid of this particular pop-up, which only happens to me on this website, and nowhere else online, that I can presently recall. What I mean is that this 'social bookmarks' pop-up only appears on my screen when I visit this Forum, and nowhere else!!

... an anomoly perhaps? It's beginning to appear that way, but I'm thinking it may have come from my clicking on one of the Forum banners. It's a "weird" kind of pop-up, really. It's not flashy at all; very basic to be exact, and always the same colour, which matches the background colour of this website. I have'nt clicked on it to find out where it takes me, 'cause I don't really want to know that. All I want to know is how to clean it, as it's driving me nuts. Every time I try to scroll up, down, or sideways, my screen freezes 'til this thing pops up. It only stays visible for 2 to 3 seconds, and then pops back down again. Weird. Weird. Weird! Yen Hui

Hello Yen Hui, After some searching, I have found the same pop up as you! It kinda threw me because it is has an icon there. Look at the bottom right side of your browser on the forum page. See that tiny grey square that you mentioned? If you put your mouse on it, it will expand into “social bookmarks”. After several seconds, it retracts back (on mine anyway). Regards, MrE2Me2 p.s. Hello Yen Hui, Now that the high winds have died down a bit here (B.C.), I can post again. The little grey square icon that is “social bookmarks” is literally that. I followed some of them. For instance: Digg, “Digg is a user driven social content website. Ok, so what the heck does that mean? Well, everything on digg is submitted by the digg user community” Del.icio.us, “del.icio.us is a social bookmarking website -- the primary use of del.icio.us is to store your bookmarks online,” This pop up only occurs under very specific circumstances. The grey square only comes up when I come to a specific thread. It doesn’t happen on the main page of the forum. Nor does it occur when I go to a category of the forum (like “Other Stuff”). The grey square only occurs when the thread is opened. (For instance; “An Extremely Annoying Pop-Up!”) Other than that, the square doesn’t occur. More, the grey square will not open up if I do not run my mouse over it. Regards, MrE2Me2

This pop up only occurs under very specific circumstances. Hi there MrE2Me2 ~ Thanks for taking time to clarify the situation for me. Feels good to know I'm not experiencing some sort of "anomaly"! LOL Anyway, when I first joined this Forum, it never popped up. And I was a member, it seems, for a good 2 months, easy, before this thing ever reared its ugly head. Now, I can't get away from it. I guess what I want to know is how to turn it off? I want to go back to the days when it never popped-in on me, under any circumstances. Kind regards, Yen Hui

You also posted, “LOL Anyway, when I first joined this Forum, it never popped up.” I never recall seeing it either but hen even when you mentioned it; I had to search it out. You posted, “I guess what I want to know is how to turn it off? I want to go back to the days when it never popped-in on me, under any circumstances.” When I find out (if I find out), I’ll be sure and post.
